MHESI-Wuhan University favorably find resolutions to further elevate the Sirindhorn International Center for Geo-informatics (SCGI) Master Program

Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (MHESI) of Thailand and Wuhan University (WHU) of the People’s Republic of China, co-organized the 12th Board of Directors of Sirindhorn International Center for Geo-informatics Meeting (12th BOD of SCGI) on 2nd July 2024, Wuhan, Hubei Province, China. The Meeting mainly aimed to unravel any obstacles that restrained the great achievement of SCGI Master Program (the unique international double degree program on geo-informatics among WHU, Burapha University, and GISTDA).

The 12th BOD of SCGI Meeting was co-chaired by Prof. Yang Bisheng, Director, State Key Laboratory of Information Engineering in Surveying, Mapping and Remote Sensing (LIESMARS), WHU and Pakorn Apaphant, Ph.D., Executive Director, GISTDA, as core implementing agencies under the cooperation from both sides. The Meeting reached the consensus on the revision of Amendment no.2 to the Memorandum of Understanding among WHU, Burapha University, and GISTDA on SCGI Master Program, which will advance the management of SCGI Master Program to the next level, the comprehensive promotion of SCGI Master Program and more support on scholarship through China-ASEAN cooperation fund/platform, the possibility for the students of SCGI Master Program to extend their Ph.D. study at WHU, as well as, the further research and development on geo-informatics and space technology applications. The Meeting also agreed to organize the 13th BOD of SCGI Meeting in 2025, Thailand.

Sirindhorn International Center for Geo-informatics (SCGI) is the strategic scientific cooperation between Thailand-China, that graciously initiated by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, aiming to enhance opportunities of Thai people in working with renowned world-class researchers in geo-informatics and remote sensing field of WHU. Currently, the SCGI Master Program, which is one of the most successful activities under SCGI, has been producing more than 35 skillful manpower on geo-informatics to the Southeast Asia community since 2018.
